Mayoral Imbizo – Ukhahlamba Luyizwi Labantu

An imbizo, a gathering to share knowledge, hosted by Okhahlamba Local Municipality was coordinated with the sole purpose of connecting more than 300 community members, from 5 different wards, with the relevant government departments and agencies that offer the crucial services they need.

The present departments were: Dept of Home Affairs, Dept of Agriculture & Rural Development, Dept of Social Development, Dept Labour & Employment, South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), Dept of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), South African Police Services (SAPS), Health Systems Trust (HST) and different units of the municipality.

Tabhane Secondary School – Build-Up To Mayoral Imbizo

This morning His Worship the Mayor visited Tabhane Secondary School to address students about the upcoming Mayoral Imbizo and the services which will be rendered thereof by several government agencies, including Dept of Home Affairs, SASSA, Dept of Social Development, Dept of Agriculture, Dept of Health, municipal LED and Youth Offices, Moses Kotane etc.

Clean-Audit Outcome for 2022/23 Financial Year

At the ongoing 3rd Ordinary Council Meeting, sitting today – 29 August 2024 – the Chairperson of the Audit Committee was presenting his Q4 Audit Committe Report and amid the subsequent deliberations thereof by the council, His Worship the Mayor mentioned that out of 54 municipalities in the province of Kwazulu-Natal, Okhahlamba Local Municipality is one of the ONLY 4 local government entities to have received an unqualified audit opinion (Clean Audit) for the 2022/23 financial year.

School Uniforms Handout and Interactions With The Mayor

Today the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) handed out school uniforms, waterproof boots and other items to 51 students from Hambrook Primary, Nomtshilo Primary and Isibuko Primary School. His Worship the Mayor also interacted with members of the community who both showed up in support of this initiative and were in need of SASSA services. The Mayor then offered refreshments to elderly.
